Then I thought about the actual failure it prevents, and I changed my mind rather quickly. Because the single most common disaster in creative work isn't a broken lens or a lost card ā it's arriving at a location and discovering the battery you were sure was full is the one you drained last week. There's no recovery from that. The shoot is over. And the reason it keeps happening is that charged and empty batteries look identical, so people rely on memory, and memory is terrible.
A battery-status indicator system turns that from a memory problem into a glance. That's not a gimmick. That's the difference between a wasted trip and a working day.
The rest of the bag is equally serious about being useful. So ā I was wrong about the gimmick, and I'm happy to say so. This is one of the most thoughtfully specified creator bags in its class, and if you shoot with a drone, a camera and a laptop, it replaces an entire shelf of separate cases.
