Sixty litres, and the sides come off ā that's more useful than it sounds
Households almost never use a large pack the same way twice. One week it's a camping trip. Another it's an emergency kit sitting ready. Another it's helping someone move, or a long drive with too much gear.
Which is why the removable side and waist pouches on common versions are the feature I'd lead with. The advantage is that the pack scales ā attached, you've got 60L of high-capacity storage; detached, the main body becomes a more manageable size, and the pouches can be used on their own or clipped elsewhere. The benefit is modular bug-out flexibility, meaning one purchase covers a full loadout and a lighter configuration, rather than you owning two bags that each get used half the time.
Sixty litres is genuinely a lot, and I want to be honest that it's more than many people need. A large multi-compartment layout means that volume is organised rather than being one cavernous space where everything settles to the bottom ā but if you're packing for one person for a couple of days, something smaller will carry better. Volume you don't use is just weight and bulk.
For the times you do fill it, the carry system is up to the job. A padded shoulder harness with adjustable waist support, so the load transfers to your hips instead of hanging off your shoulders. Compression straps pull everything inward and stop a partially-packed bag from shifting as you walk. That combination is what makes a large pack tolerable rather than punishing.
Materials are water-resistant heavy fabric ā sturdy and treated rather than waterproof, which is the accurate way to describe it. Plan for a liner or dry bags if you're storing anything that must stay dry. MOLLE webbing across the exterior lets you add exactly the pouches your kit needs, and there's a patch area for labelling, which genuinely helps if more than one person in a household has a bag.
My warm and practical summary: this is a lot of organised, adaptable capacity for a modest price, and it's most compelling if you want one pack that covers several different jobs across a year.
